Nick Occupational Therapy
Inability turns to Ability
What do we do differently?
Nick Occupational Therapy service believes in transforming inability into ability and where attitude leads to altitude. Our occupational therapist has extensive experience in working with disability matters from different sectors such as health risk management, insurance, road accident fund, and private and public hospital.
Our approach is more on humanistic cornerstones, believing as we do that we are all capable of making changes to our life. We use therapeutic activities, work simulation, and therapy sessions to promote wellness and to change the scenario from inability to ability, thus bringing out the best in people, who were once afflicted with a feeling of doom and gloom.
In short, we instill light and love.
Nick’s career as an occupational therapist started in 2004 at the Odi District Hospital, Mabopane. He was appointed as a head of department for rehabilitation services supervising physiotherapist assistants, community service physiotherapists, and community service occupational therapists.
Through the Council for Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa (COHSASA), Nick implemented a back pain management program to assist patients and hospital staff.
Based on this unique program as a probing and brilliant occupational therapist, he was awarded Best Innovate Employee of the year in 2006 at the Odi District Hospital. In 2006, he studied for a Post Graduate Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation at the University of Pretoria. He was the first black male Occupational Therapist to lecture at this revered institution.
Nick thereafter worked in various insurance and health risk management companies, such as the Metropolitan health group, PHS and Clientele Life. In 2011 he studied for a Long Term Insurance Certificate with Damelin and was then accredited as a Disability Specialist.
During his 16 years in this field, he has assessed Medico Legal claims from an insurance contract and also from a Road Accident Fund Act point of view. In the interim he successfully completed a course program relating to expert opinion & evidence as a Health Professional at the University of Cape Town.
